An introduction to Benjamin Britten
One of the greatest composers of the 20th century, Suffolk born and bred, his work was rooted in the county. From 1957 until his death in 1976 Britten lived, with Peter Pears, at The Red House in Aldeburgh - now the home of a fascinating archive looked after by the Britten-Pears Foundation. This talk, illustrated with sound and video clips from the archive collection, is the ideal introduction to the man and his music.

Having recently graced our screens on BBC2's Classical Star, acclaimed musicians Jeanine Thorpe (violin) and Ben MacDougall (flute) will perform an eclectic selection of music - from solo Bach & Piazolla, to compositions by the performers. With something new for everyone, it's an event not to be missed.

Half Marathon/Fun Run in aid of Framlingham Community 1st Responders; five-a-side football tournament; entertainment and stalls for the whole family, including Punch & Judy, Mr Juggle Fun with circus skills & micro bikes, magic & balloon modelling; Human Fruit Machine, bouncy castle, China Smashing Tent and Maypole Dancing. Hot & cold food stalls, all-day breakfasts, bar. Live music from local bands in the evening.

Framlingham Glories
The Thamar Organ arrived in Framlingham 300 years ago. Malcolm Russell will talk about the fascinating history of the instrument and demonstrate its qualities with a short recital. Rev David Pitcher will talk about the Framlingham "Glory" - its origin and scientific links. St Michael's bellringers will take visitors up the tower. The afternoon ends with tea and cake. No charge for this event, but please make a donation. All profits will be donated to the "Toilets in the Tower" fund.

Florence has received widespread recognition for her interesting, lyrical and thought-provoking poetry. Jane Page, a published designer, will show you how to produce unique hand stitched cards using a combination of real flowers and embroidery techniques.
